Gwen's 5th Birthday!

Gwen had a great 5th birthday! She was sad that she didn’t get to have a big party with family and all of her friends, but did manage to find CryBaby napkins, plates and balloons so it’s still felt like a party!

We started off the day making pancakes for breakfast. The pancakes were great, but no one liked the maple syrup. Gwen wanted different shapes, but I was only able to make a slightly heart-shaped one.

Gwen was super excited to open her presents, she got some Gabby Dollhouse figures and a Cookiez Makery pet oven. The same present she was so upset Penny got for Christmas and she didn’t. Her surprise pet was an ice cream bunny, which is the one she wanted, but she said it smelled weird. I think it smells like cake batter. We also went to the cheap goods store and got her a blue mermaid tutu skirt, she was really happy to be able to pick out her own gift on her birthday!

We had promised her we could go to Burger King for her birthday. She really loves burgers lately and we hadn’t been to Burger King yet. They also have an indoor play place which she really wanted to go to and since it was raining off and on throughout the day it ended up being the perfect plan.

Unfortunately we had to order from a person instead of being able to use the screens (which usually have an English option) It was difficult because the menu screen kept changing so it was hard for us to read, but with our little bit of Portuguese and the employee’s bit of English we were able to order. Funnily, even though Gwen loves burgers right now she wanted in her words a “chicken burger” which is literally what it’s called on the menu. In Portuguese the word for chicken is “frango” and the rest of the menu was in Portuguese, except for “Chicken burger”…super weird.

Max had an Oreo milkshake, Penny had chicken nuggets and french fries, I had a cheeseburger and Chris had a chicken sandwich. It was all great! Better than Burger King at home and not expensive. It was way better and less expensive than the McDonald’s here.

After lunch we went back home and had birthday cake. We had expected Gwen to pick out the birthday cake with Paw Patrol or PJ Masks characters on it, but instead she chose a chocolate cake that was covered in chocolate sprinkles. It had a little bit of chocolate ganache in the middle which was her favorite part. The chocolate sprinkles were really good and basically melted in your mouth. Since her birthday she has been requesting another one constantly!

Gwen loves helping us cook and bake and she had to help with her birthday breakfast!

Gwen was having the “best birthday ever”!

5 candles and one to grow on. Max was excited we let him light the candles.

Blowing out her candles. It took her a few tries to get all of them.
