We found another cool, relaxed neighborhood in Paris when we visited Sacre Coeur. Plus! the best part was that our all zone metro passes worked to get us a free ride on the ascensor so I didn’t have to walk up the ridiculous amount of stairs required to get to the top. I had resigned myself to the stairs when Lindsay recommended we tried the cards. It was the best idea she has ever had.
Normally there is a view from the Sacre Coeur but it was really foggy. The line took about 20 minutes but it wasn’t bad. There was a guy singing american songs and he sounded really good. We gave the kids some coins to tip him when we went by. We took the kids back and visited a bakery we had been walking past each day. We got a version of pizza and the girls always ask for eclairs. It was a pretty low key day.
There were tons of merchants and a serpentine line of people waiting to get in.
You are not allowed to take pictures inside Sacre Coeur. So here is a picture I took inside. The security guard is about to angrily tell me to take my hat off. I was not aware of the church etiquette.
You can see the weather was pretty overcast. I am smiling because I know our passes will take us all the way to the bottom of the hill on the ascensor.
We took the kids to a little bakery down the street from our place. We had pizza type things, one was pepperoni (not that good) and the other was delicious chicken and bell peppers, it was everyone's favorite, although Max really just liked the dough. This is the day after Versailles so they are all pretty tired. I think the walking total was about 8 miles this day.
