We watched the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier. I didn’t know that Greece had one of those also. They change the guard every hour but on Sunday at 11:00 am they do a much more elaborate ceremony. Lindsay looked up a park nearby. It was huge. They had a little zoo and we found a really cool playground there. It was hot and unfortunately Greece doesn’t have the same approach to playgrounds. In Portugal they all have a cafe in or next to it.
We stopped at a street food place called “Potato King”. It lived up to its name. The food was cheap and very good. We could get any of their stuff covered in cheese and we did. They had 4 holes in the table so you could put the weird pyramid box in it. That feature was great for the box, but led to issues with the kids waters.
The building behind the guards is the parliament. There is some kind of shake up here with the political parties and we saw news crews camped out at one of the party’s headquarters. Although I generally hate speaking to strangers I asked the reporter what was happening and he explained that the second biggest party was probably going to split up or get a new leader or something like that.
The kids were transfixed by the goats. We spent a good 15 minutes watching them.
This things was really cool. The ratchet at the top only allowed it to spin one way so one of the bigger kids would wind up the ropes while the smaller kids sat on it. Then they could release it and it would spin for a while. Simple yet wonderful.
Holes in the table for the carton of delicious fries. We ate there 3 times I think. The kids loved it and it was really cheap.
