Bock Casemates

Yeah, I didn’t know what those were either. So, apparently people have been digging caves in the mountains for a long time and people would hide in them during bombing raids. There were cannons set up for defense and the system is something like 20 km long. We only got to explore the ones in Luxembourg, but we could see some from the train when we went to Germany. The kids really liked having their picture taken when they were standing over the lights in the floor. They thought it was spooky and since it was close to Halloween they were all about spooky.

Lindsay found a cool playground that was castle themed. We took a bus to a very fancy neighborhood. It was The only time I saw anyone playing with a baseball. There seemed to be a whole lot of Americans there. The girls had a lot of fun there. Max sat with me and ate his baguette while they played. We went home a little early that evening so we could pack for our flight the next day.

Our safety protocols have gotten lax and we let the kids explore a bit without our supervision.

That’s me! Below is the entrance to the Casemates.

The park was really nice and there were a lot of people using it.

We took the kids to get hot chocolate. It was very not milk that you dip chocolate into. Those brown things are marshmallows.
